What Are The Three Types of Metabolism?

What is metabolism, and the different types of metabolism, is essential to explore and understand. When researching metabolism, the first question should be: what are the different metabolism types? More importantly, what type of metabolism do you have, and what does that mean? How do metabolism types affect your daily life?

 First is understanding that metabolism combines all the chemical processes in a person’s body. For human beings, this means how our bodies convert energy from food to help us with breathing, circulating blood, digesting food, and eliminating waste. In short, metabolism is how your body uses the energy absorbed by consuming food (and beverages) for everything your body does and how it powers itself to function.

Now that we understand metabolism, we must learn how it processes. There are two metabolism types in the metabolic processes: anabolism and catabolism.

Anabolism is a constructive metabolism process designed to build, store, and support the growth of new cells for future use. In anabolism, small molecules transform into more complex molecules of carbohydrates, protein, and fat.

Catabolism is destructive metabolism and is the process that produces all the energy needed for cell activity. To release energy, cells break down large molecules. This enables the muscles to contract and the body to move.

All metabolic changes and metabolism types occur in multiple reactions and follow a particular metabolic pathway. The metabolic pathway is defined by a series of responses, including the pathways of metabolism types. The purpose of metabolic pathways is to extract energy from the food for cellular activities; convert food into building blocks; synthesize biomolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids; and eliminate waste and toxic products. There are three metabolism types. They are endomorph, ectomorph, and mesomorph.

If you gain muscle or fat quickly but find fat hard to lose, then consider yourself an endomorph (slow metabolism), making it easy to gain weight (fat, not muscle). Endomorphs are a softer, rounder body or a short, stocky build. Endomorphs must blend cardio and strength training to combat fat gains. For dieting, lower carb intake and increase protein and fats.

People with an ectomorph metabolism have a more petite body frame and bone structure. They’re thinner, leaner, and find it hard to gain weight (fast metabolism). Ectomorphs burn calories quicker than other metabolism types and require a large caloric intake. Fitness regimens should focus on big muscle groups with cardio and strength training. An intake of Starchy carbs can provide high calories and provide energy. Ectomorphs can benefit significantly from supplements and can eat before bed to prevent muscle catabolism at night.

Mesomorph metabolism (those with athletic body types) have a rectangular-shaped body and muscular build. This type gains more fat, so watch caloric intake. This group has an easier time losing weight than endomorphs and is considered the ideal type for bodybuilding.

The processes of metabolism, and the metabolism types, depending on the nutrients that get digested to produce energy. The produced energy is necessary to manufacture our body’s nucleic acids, proteins, and other biomolecules. Encompassed nutrients include many substances the body requires, either in a sufficient amount or insufficient, resulting in poor health concerning metabolism. Keep three things in mind.

Necessary nutrients help by supplying the required energy and other essential chemicals that the body cannot synthesize.  Second, muscle speeds the metabolism causing the body works more efficiently to process food faster and increase appetite.
